Ddr. Tina Šegota
Tina Šegota is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor. She has two doctorates, one in marketing communications, which she completed in 2017 at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana, and one in tourism, which she completed in 2023 at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana. Tina joined our faculty in 2021, visiting as part of the Ad Futura scholarship. During this time and since 2017, she worked as a senior lecturer in advertising and marketing communications at the University of Greenwich in London.
Tina became recognized as a tourism researcher focused on the quality of life of residents and children in tourist destinations. At the same time, she also researches advertising and marketing communications in tourism. In addition, Tina leads several interdisciplinary projects with authors from the fields of economics, sports, marketing, and sociology, who come from different countries, such as Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, New Zealand, the United States, Spain, Austria, and Turkey.
Since 2016, she has published more than 20 research papers, which include scientific research articles, book chapters, and editorials. Tina is an award-winning academic with research and teaching experience in marketing and tourism worldwide. She is the recipient of many international academic awards, including the Emerald Literati Award and the Best Paper Award. She serves on the editorial board for the International Journal of Tourism Cities as a theme editor for the quality of life, which means that she has a significant influence on the creation of scientific literature that sheds light on the quality of life in tourist cities.
During her tenure at the University of Greenwich, Tina became Deputy Head of the BA Advertising and Digital Marketing Communications program, the UK’s largest advertising degree program and the 2nd best in London.
She was invited as a speaker at the doctoral workshop of the OECD Academy and the UNESCO UNITWIN conference, and at the international conference ToSEE in Opatija in May 2023, she gave a keynote speech on children as the driving force of sustainable tourism.
Tina is the principal investigator in the project of empowering children in tourism, which was selected for funding by the Agency for Research and Innovation of the Republic of Slovenia in the period 2023-2026. The project includes many excellent researchers from the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana.
