Jan de Jong
At the age of 22, he moved from the Netherlands to Croatia where he founded his first company, M+ Group. Today, M+ Group has a listing on the Zagreb Stock Exchange and employs over 14,000 FTE across the region. Jan made his exit from M+ Group in 2016, at that moment employing over 400 FTE.
In 2016, he founded Webpower Adria. Today, they are the leading email service provider in the region with a local presence – directly competing against global leaders including MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, etc. In 2021, Webpower Adria was among the first companies to introduce a 4-day work week for a full-time salary.
In 2020, he initiated the introduction of a digital nomad visa in Croatia. On the 11th of July 2020, Jan wrote an open letter to Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, asking him to consider introducing such a visa.
With full support from the Prime Minister, Jan has worked closely with 7 ministries to change 2 laws and 2 regulations. As off 1 st of January 2021, Croatia became the second country in Europe and 7th country in the World to welcome digital nomads by granting them a temporary staying permit.
He is 39 years old, married, and father of 4 children. Jan is living the Croatian dream from home near Split.
