Shane Szarkowski is Editor-in-Chief of Diplomatic Courier and Executive Director of World in 2050. A Marine Corps veteran, he is an experienced editor and analyst whose expertise includes energy, security, and state failure.

Shane wrote his PhD at Oxford Brookes University, where he focused on the intersection of history, sovereign identity, and intervention in Afghanistan. He has also taught—and in some cases designed—undergraduate courses in political theory, political philosophy, international relations, counter-terrorism, and U.S. Constitutional law.

He co-founded a community of digital nomads in Split. In addition to his experiences, he polled his community (which he estimates has approximately 400 current and former Split-based digital nomads) to get a broader perspective as well.
